New assembly system for run flat tyres

12.07.2006 - Tyres with flat running properties, so-called run flat or DSST tyres are very much the trend among many vehicle manufacturers. On the one hand this is certainly the increase in safety achieved with these tyres. On the other hand there are economic considerations such as weight savings or increase in space as there is no need to carry a spare tyre. In the wheel assembly unit this type of tyre with its stiff side walls cannot be compared with conventional tyres. Due to their stiff side walls, RF tyres require a specially adapted assembly station for protective assembly. With the new Schenck assembly system, fully automated RF tyre assembly is now possible. The key to this is the RF-suitable assembly head in the fitting station: Due to its ingenious movement sequence the tyres are very gently pulled onto the rim in two steps. This ensures controlled assembly of these special tyre types. The RF assembly head can be easily retrofitted to the current versions of Schenck's wheel assembly units and at a low cost.

Balancing 100 years with Schenck

In 1907 Schenck produced their first balancing machine. In previous years Carl Schenck had been involved with this topic and with the co-operation of Franz Lawaczeck the first practical machine was completed.
